Lead policy analyst and writer for the Policy and Procedures Review Project.

Designing and writing a business rules framework, operational policies, procedures and guidelines.

Working with the Corporate Services Manager, Programme Manager and subject matter experts to ensure that policies are concise, written in plain language and up to date with current legislation and standards.

Office of the Children’s Commissioner

Lead policy analyst and writer for the Corporate Policy Review Project.

Responsible for developing new policies and processes in plain language for the new Children and Young People’s Commission (which launched on 1 July 2023).

Working with the transition lead to ensure new policies are in place for the new Commission.

Writing new policies for business continuity; communications and media; finance and risk management; human resources; health, safety and wellbeing; and information management.

Writing the project plan to manage the review and stakeholder engagement.

Researching policy samples, best practice and setting up the policy template.

NZ Defence Force

Lead policy analyst and writer for the Fuels Management Project.

Responsible for developing a new logistics policy in plain English (Defence Force Instruction and Defence Force Manual).

Working with the Defence Fuels Manager to ensure the safe management of operational energy (fuel) across the NZ Army, Navy and Air Force.

Writing new Defence-wide policy suite, which covers control measures; health and safety; managing risk and change; operational planning; regulation and responsibilities; and quality surveillance.

Researching standards, legislation and military best practice (UK and Australia).

Writing the project plan to manage the policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Developing a stakeholder engagement and communications plan, writing key messages, agreeing channels and a launch timetable.

Wellington Water

Plain English editing and rewriting a technical guidance document for councils in Wellington: ‘Water Sensitive Design for Stormwater: Treatment Device Design Guideline’.

Human Rights Commission

Lead policy analyst and writer for the Policy Review Project.

Responsible for developing new policies in plain English.

Writing new policies, as required by a Ministerial Review, to help the Commission to improve workplace behaviour.

Writing new policies for bullying; health and safety; code of conduct; complaints process; and staff wellbeing.

Working with an external advisory group for advice on best practice policies and regular reviews.

Reviewing policies from organisations across New Zealand and setting up policy templates.

Victoria University of Wellington: Senior Technical Editor

Plain English editing and improving readability of the Victoria University and BRANZ ”Thermal Performance in Housing Research Report”.

NZ Police

Lead policy analyst and writer for the Te Pae Oranga Programme.

Responsible for developing new policies and documentation in plain English.

Writing a new policy, standards and procedures for the programme (including te reo).

Helping NZ Police to manage the programme and improve relationships with Iwi and providers.
